Fantastic, now time to try Quake! Launching the DOS Quake, as a known working version under the previous card, all appeared to be well.
And then I decided to run WinQuake. To my surprise, it too ran just fine.
Tried launching again, and this time it decided that in order to run it needed to restart into DOS-Mode. Without it, the game is still amazing for the time, but nowhere near the same as with it. After tinkering with settings for over a day, I finally gave up hope.
Opting instead to try the Windows version of Quake v1. This version successfully played the CD Audio without a miss.
But this is where all the problems started… Once done playing with the game, I decided it was time to exit back to Windows and continue getting this machine setup and ready for use. But as Quake exited back to Windows, the screen went black with lots of garbage, and the system hung. Forced to reset the Advanced Digital Chips AD1816 manually, I ran Quake again.
